MY APPROACH VERSUS OTHERS
With limited resources, selecting the right consultant to support teaching and learning in your school or district is critical. Compare and contrast traditional professional development versus my preferred approach.

SEAGULL PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT MODEL
Seagull Consultants provide professional development from a safe distance. They typically only have one person’s perspective of the school or district context from a pre-engagement call prior to swooping in. Once they’ve landed, they make a lot of noise and leave educators in a mental mess not knowing where to go next. Before you know it, they fly away to the next school or district.
MY APPROACH
My preferred approach to supporting schools and districts is the inverse of the Seagull Professional Development model. My goal is to come in, truly understand the context, get extremely clear on what is trying to be achieved, and then work alongside educators to implement the plan via embedded-professional development. In addition to being job-embedded, this model is intensive, collaborative, data-driven, and designed for sustainability.
